The Oasis group were asked to perform as part of a gala concert to help raise funds for Croeso Penarth who are aiming to provide housing and help for a Syrian refugee family to settle in Penarth. We were allocated a 15 – 20 minute set in which to perform and managed to fit in a wide variety of songs showing off the huge array of talent and humanity within the group.
On December 19th we enjoyed our annual singing flashmob in the streets of Cardiff, facilitated by Laura Bradshaw, and it was another great success - having fun and stopping for a moment from the shopping to come together with strangers to connect though the amazing power of music and voice.
The project provided opportunities for asylum seekers and refugees and the wider community to engage in a creative arts project, using song, music, stories, film and photography to help improve health and well being and to promote respect and understanding of people from different countries and cultures.
As part of our ‘Make it Happen’ 3 year programme funded by Hub Cymru Africa, The Waterloo Foundation and The Arts Council of Wales, our creative team travelled to Kenya this Spring to work with the Maasai.
